Gift of the Magi
On Christmas I received many fine gifts including many Montreal Expos paraphernalia. What can I say? My darling wife listens to my many hints. When I was a kid a local ice cream shop used team logo plastic caps as giveaway bowls. I received an Expos cap from my wife.
There is a fine art to regifting. My wife has taken it to a new level.
I asked her where she found my Expos cap. I wondered if it was one of the many shops I frequent in Montreal. She replied, almost mysteriously, "You don't want to know."
Rule #1 of My Rules to a Happy Marriage: When your spouse says "You don't want to know." just leave it at that and walk away.
Ha! I am not serious. When your spouse says that phrase you sit down, put the lamp in her eyes and imitate Joe Friday - "Just the facts, Madam."
It seems she found the cap in a box she thought was abandoned. A box in my office.
Yep. She gave me one of my own caps. Brilliant!
I figure it's fair. That new Palm Zire she received? Yeah, it's mine.
