3 Snaps in a "Z" Formation
If you're here for baseball rants...skip this post. I've written about stupid linking policies before and I'm going to again...
Unless a User has a written agreement in effect with us which states otherwise, User may only provide a hyperlink to the Site on another Web site, if you comply with all of the following: (a) the link must be a text-only link clearly marked "snap.com" or "www.snap.com"; (b) the link must "point" to the URL "http://www.snap.com" and not to other pages within the Site; (c) the link, when activated by a User, must display the Site full-screen and not within a "frame" on the linking Web site; and (d) the appearance, position and other aspects of the link must not be such as to damage or dilute the goodwill associated with our name and trademarks or create the false appearance we are associated with or sponsor the linking Web site. Perfect Market reserves the right to revoke its consent to any link at any time in its sole discretion.
What a worthless way to run a search engine. Snap looked interesting, but now it is useless. What idiot would would link to Snap and say "I'd link to the search on "Montreal Expos", but Snap won't let me save you the keystrokes so just go to Snap and type in Montreal Expos yourself. Or, you can highlight Montreal Expos here and copy it and then paste it in over at Snap."
Not me. Instead I'd do this: Montreal Expos.
PS: Notice I did not break Snap's linking policy?
Update: It looks as though a few dozen web sites called Snap on this and they caved last night. Ok, OK, so they caved because BoingBoing mentioned it. In any case, they wrote to BoingBoing and said "Cory, thanks for catching that and posting. We're changing the policy, so thanks!"
Catching it? So they just accidently inserted that paragraph? I hope their programmers are more diligent than their management staff.
