How I Use MT
On a personal level:
I use URLs like others use categories. At present I have one hosting account with 150 mbs of space. I have 15 domain names. I use MoveableType to manage three primary groups of sites: my Doc Savage sites, my blogs, and a scitech blog for my wife.
I could combine my two Doc Savage sites to one URL. However, with MT it was easy to separate them into a fan review site and a personal zine site. With my blogs I split them up by topic: personal, quick links, film review, media commentary, RSS information and blog reviews. (Currently the last three are on hiatus.) I purchased other domain names intending to speak on other topics.
Finally, my wife uses my space and MT installation to power her blog.
So, we use MT to run about 9 sites with two authors.
How about a price/version of MT that harkens back to "personal publishing?" I don't want or need the power of a publishing platform. I'm looking for something aimed at a family of authors making personal sites on a single installation. Maybe institute a pricing based on total domain space? (I'm just throwing out ideas off the top of my head.)
On a professional level:
I use MT at a public library to construct a small public web site and a staff intranet. We have a single domain name and host everything on own server. We have one active author and three authors who needed access at one time, but haven't been deleted.
Will MT 3.0 have a pricing for not-for-profits?
