Free Culture
You've probably heard of Lawrence Lessig. He is the founder of the Stanford Center for Internet and Society. He was one of the inaugural recipients of the Scientific American 50 Award for his work on copyright law: "Argued against interpretations of copyright that could stifle innovation and discourse online."
A man near and dear to my heart.
Last week he released his book, Free Culture, as a free download. Within hours A.K.M. Adam suggested a group performance of the book. Anyone could read a chapter and upload the mp3 to help create an audiobook.
How could I resist? I read Chapter 9: Collectors since it dealt primarily with the archiving of the Internet through the Internet Archive. I guess I just love libraries and collecting.
You'll find all the chapters hosted at Scott Matthews' Free Culture page. And there also is a wiki of the book.
