The Hidden American People
One of the many burdens my poor wife bears is my grumpy attitude when I hear "The American People" or "Americans ______ ".
We're a nation of 293 million people who can't agree on a single damn thing.
When many people outside the US think of America they're really thinking of one of the following:
(1) Hollywood Movie Characters
(2) DC Politicians
(3) TV New Yorkers
(4) Sports Superstars
(5) Music Superstars
(6) Some Geographic Stereotype
(7) "The Rich"
(8) "Welfare Mothers"
Let me tell you this...there is a huge segment of the American population that exists and never touches the radar of any of those segments.
If you think you know "America" or "Americans" you have another think coming.
Many of them.
