nobody owns the top of the hill
Liz at mamamusings.net: ".....This is a brand new blog, started by someone who was virtually unknown by most of the world a year ago…it’s far from “the Harvard faculty,” and it was never intended to represent the sum total of all women’s voices and perspectives. The wonderful thing about virtual real estate is that it’s not a zero-sum game, and that nobody owns the top of the hill."
Damn straight. You want your voice heard? This isn't high school. No one is going to convince people to not invite you to their parties.
Is it important for you to be heard? Have something useful to say. Don't worry if an "instant pundit" links to you. Don't complain if a group leaves you out of their circle. Make your own links...comment on the sites where you enjoy reading. Create your own circle...and tell the world about it.
If you are truly writing because you need to write -- then simply write. If you are writing because you crave accolades -- then hire a marketing team.
