Fans Don't Lose Games Players Do
Like almost every other Cub "fan" I booed the guy who grabbed at the foul ball. We need a basic fan rule. Print this on every ticket: If you're in the front row and your team is on defense: stay away from foul balls!
However, it's one thing to boo a quick mistake and another when some of the damn media thinks it is a story. For the sake of a story they f*** the life of a seemingly decent man. That's one of the reasons I had to get out of journalism.
Wil Wheaton has a great open letter addressed to "That Guy." "...It's not your fault that the Cubs lost game 6. It's not your fault that Dusty Baker probably left Prior in too long, or that Alex Gonzalez chose game 6 to make his 11th error of the whole freakin' year. It's not your fault the Cubs stranded 7 runners. It's not your fault that they lost game 7. It's not your fault that Kerry Wood, normally one of the best pitchers in baseball, just couldn't get it together in game 7...."
Go read it. And, That Guy? The offer extends to Louisville. Though God knows why you'd come here.
