French Flash
We were watching Journal de France 2 (with English subtitles) on the International Channel tonight. Of course, I didn't understand a word of it. I didn't feel up to reading the subtitles either. Therefore, I was using the opportunity to comment on the newscasters and background folk.
First, the newsreader: she never blinks. Her tiny pinpricks of pupil are straight out of a bad "Don't do Drugs" video.
A story on a union organization meet proved conclusively that the French media have the same problems as ours. Behind a poorly dressed reporter spectators goofed around on camera. Just like here. There were the usual young folks smiling and pushing each other. Just like here. Men dressed with fake braids and brushes mounted on helmets. Just like here. Women flashing the camera. Just like here.
Yes, you read correctly. Brushes. And breasts. I could see one woman eyeing the camera. I knew that gleam. I said "She is going to flash the camera." Sure enough, up went the top -- a quick giggle --- and she jumped off camera.
My darling wife said the event was short because "she didn't have a lot to show."
